The You are Awesome blog shares inspiring stories about interesting ideas and compelling, real people who invite passion, adventure, and creativity into everyday life. I launched the blog for two reasons. First, because I wanted a reason (excuse), beyond working on my manuscripts, to write regularly. Second, writing about people I admire and ideas that fascinate or inspire me, means I have an incentive to keep my eyes and mind open. Third–I know I only said two reasons, but there is a third–the blog offers me the chance to connect with people and build relationships I might not otherwise have had. All these things make me happy. I like being happy. You could call me a happiness practitioner if you like, I don’t mind.
At the University of California, San Diego I studied communications, writing, and scientific perspectives. I wrote for on-campus publications while in school. After graduation, I signed on to write and edit a start-up magazine published out of San Francisco. Some years later, I wrote an educational booklet on banking, distributed to 10,000 people.
Three years ago, I completed the first draft of a manuscript with the working title, MARGINS. It’s complete, but not yet under contract. I’ve also been hard at work on my second novel, tentatively titled, GIRL, UNKNOWN. I love writing. Even when it doesn’t always love me back.
I happily work a corporate job. Sundays, I write.
I cook for my little family of three, enjoy a glass of wine or two with friends, and love a good run. I read like a maniac but always want more. I leave cabinet doors open for no good reason, but am trying to reform my evil ways.
So, that’s me. Who’re you?
