I love you, my friend. I tell you so whenever we talk on the phone and sometimes when we are just chatting side by side on the couch. But I don’t think I have ever told you why I cherish you. We have laughed and cried together, and shared secrets we shall keep forever. Now, I want you to know how much I value and honor you.
You have never given up on me. Even in the times when you were struggling through divorce and breast cancer and I didn’t keep in touch very often. You always welcomed me with a smile in your voice and true joy at hearing from me. You gave me the gift of love and mercy.
When cancer attacked your brain and the prognosis was dire, you showed courage, faith, and love. Even though you were devastated and afraid, the worth of your love for family and those you hold dear poured out. Your trust in the Lord was strong. And it still is as you face this second diagnosis of brain cancer, surgery, and recovery. You gave me the gift of seeing your faith and your generous heart.

Laury, I love that you have been my true friend for over 35 years. I’m so very proud of you. Besides being the beautiful woman and soul that you are, you have shown resilience in difficulty, an eagerness for life, and determination to challenge and defeat trials without complaint; values I want to embrace. My life is enriched because of you. I am blessed.
I love you,
Kathy
