The You are Awesome blog shares inspiring stories about interesting ideas and compelling, real people who invite passion, adventure, and creativity into everyday life. I launched the blog for two reasons. First, because I wanted a reason (excuse), beyond working on my manuscripts, to write regularly. Second, writing about people I admire and ideas that fascinate or inspire me, means I have an incentive to keep my eyes and mind open. Third, (I know I only said two reasons, but there’s a third and it’s important) the blog offers me the chance to connect with people and build relationships I might not otherwise have had. All these things make me happy. I like being happy. You could call me a happiness practitioner if you like, I don’t mind.

At the University of California, San Diego I studied communications, writing, and scientific perspectives. I wrote for on-campus publications while in school. After graduation, I signed on to write and edit a start-up magazine published out of San Francisco. Some years later, I wrote an educational booklet on banking, distributed to 10,000 people.
I love writing. Even when it doesn’t always love me back. I’ve written and edited two manuscripts–literally hundreds of thousands of words. Now I’m working on a new story idea. I’m writing essays, posting profiles of everyday heroes, and working on short fiction in addition to my full-length novels. It’s never ending and thank heavens for that.
I happily work a day job. Sundays, I write.

At home, I cook for my little family of three, enjoy a glass of wine or two with friends, and love a good run. I read like a maniac but always want more. I leave cabinet doors open for no good reason, but am trying to reform my evil ways.
So, that’s me. Who’re you?
